DR JOHL: Just a real quick practical question: Seven days of azacitidine, the trials have been done with 7 straight days. That creates an issue on the weekends, because is it okay to do 5 days, weekend off, and then Monday and Tuesday the following week? Is there any downside to doing it that way? DR STONE: Probably. There was 1 trial published a number of years ago that compared 5 days of aza to the standard 7 to the 5 on, 2 off, 2 on that you described. The results, it wasn’t really powered to look for a survival difference. But they looked about the same. So I like longer exposure. So between those 3 options, if you can’t do the 7 days in a row, I would do 5 on, 2 off, 2 on. |
