Integrating Recent Advances into the Management of HER2-Positive Breast Cancer
A CME/MOC-Accredited Interactive Grand Rounds Series
Research To Practice (RTP) is pleased to offer hospitals and cancer centers throughout the United States the opportunity to participate in an interactive live educational activity focused on the management of breast cancer. Each session in this regional series will feature a blend of didactic presentation, discussion of steering committee members’ treatment recommendations and follow-up audience Q&A.

Each 1-hour session will include 2 topic modules focused on recent advances in the management of HER2-positive breast cancer. Each event will employ an identical format that will include the following elements:
- Discussion of Steering Committee Members’ Treatment Recommendations
- Review of Available Clinical Research Findings
- Integration of Interactive Audience Q&A Discussion
MODULE 1: Evolving Management of HER2-Positive Localized Breast Cancer
MODULE 2: Selection and Sequencing of Therapy for HER2-Positive Metastatic Breast Cancer
Each session will conclude with a 5-minute Q&A segment
Target Audience
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, breast surgeons, radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to
- Assess available Phase III data with HER2-directed antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapy as a component of neoadjuvant therapy for patients with high-risk localized disease, and consider the potential clinical role of this novel treatment approach.
- Evaluate current research evidence with HER2-directed ADC therapy for patients with HER2-positive localized breast cancer with residual disease after neoadjuvant treatment.
- Appraise available clinical research data, current guideline recommendations, and best practices to guide the selection and sequencing of therapy for patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (mBC).
- Review recently presented Phase III data with HER2-directed ADC therapy as a component of first-line and maintenance therapy, and consider the role of this newly approved strategy for patients with HER2-positive mBC.
- Recognize available research findings with HER2-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors as a component of maintenance therapy, and reflect on the utility of this approach for patients with HER2-positive mBC.
- Appreciate the biological rationale for and available research findings with CDK4/6 inhibition in combination with endocrine and anti-HER2 maintenance therapy for patients with HR-positive, HER2-positive mBC, and use this information to personalize treatment recommendations.
- Design an optimal approach to the care of patients with HER2-positive breast cancer and CNS metastases, evaluating the implications of prior treatment exposure, symptomatology, extent and time to new onset of disease, and other factors.
- Consider ongoing clinical research studies evaluating novel agents and treatment strategies under development for HER2-positive breast cancer, and counsel patients regarding the potential benefits of trial participation.
