TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of breast cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Review available research supporting the use of chemotherapy in combination with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies for newly diagnosed PD-L1-positive metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC), and use this information to identify patients who may be appropriate for this approach.
  • Evaluate published research findings, clinical factors such as age, performance status, prior therapeutic exposure and HER2-low status and patient preferences in the selection and sequencing of available therapeutic agents for patients with PD-L1-negative TNBC or those who experience disease progression on front-line chemoimmunotherapy.
  • Appreciate available clinical trial data with the use of approved antibody-drug conjugates for patients with mTNBC, and determine how to optimally incorporate these agents into current treatment algorithms.
  • Recognize the spectrum, frequency and severity of treatment-emergent adverse events associated with agents commonly used in the management of mTNBC, and develop strategies to monitor for, prevent and manage these complications.
  • Assess the mechanisms of action of, early data with and ongoing clinical trials evaluating other novel agents and treatment strategies under development for TNBC.

  • Appreciate the incidence and clinical implications of ESR1 mutations in endocrine-resistant metastatic breast cancer (mBC), and determine optimal strategies to effectively identify patients harboring these abnormalities.
  • Understand the biological rationale for, mechanism of action of and pharmacologic similarities and differences among available and investigational oral selective estrogen receptor degraders (SERDs).
  • Interrogate published research findings documenting the efficacy of available and investigational oral SERDs for patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative, ESR1-mutant mBC experiencing disease progression on standard endocrine therapy in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor in order to optimally integrate these agents into the care of appropriately selected individuals.

  • Appreciate the biological rationale for and available data with trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (TROP2)-directed antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and consider the potential role of these agents for appropriately identified patients.
  • Understand available clinical research data with the use of TROP2-directed ADCs for NSCLC in patients without actionable genomic alterations, and reflect upon efforts to better distinguish individuals who may benefit from this form of treatment.
  • Evaluate the scientific justification for the evaluation of TROP2-directed ADCs in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors and other available therapies, and counsel patients regarding the potential benefits of participating in clinical research studies investigating these approaches.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Recall recent research findings affecting the clinical management of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with FLT3 or IDH1/2 mutations and as applicable, adapt current treatment algorithms based upon these results.
  • Evaluate available research evidence with the use of FLT3 inhibitors in combination with standard intensive induction and consolidation chemotherapy, and use this information to make appropriate treatment recommendations for patients with newly diagnosed AML harboring a FLT3 mutation.
  • Develop strategies to optimally integrate approved FLT3 inhibitors into the care of patients with progressive AML harboring a FLT3 mutation.
  • Analyze patient-specific factors and available clinical trial data to guide the selection of induction therapy for patients with newly diagnosed AML harboring an IDH1 or IDH2 mutation.
  • Understand published data with and the current role of available IDH1/2 inhibitors for patients with relapsed/refractory AML and an IDH1 or IDH2 mutation.

  • Appreciate clinical trial data informing the front-line use of anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody therapy for patients with MM eligible for stem cell transplant, and identify those for whom a quadruplet regimen would be appropriate.
  • Evaluate available research findings with anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody-containing regimens as front-line treatment for patients with MM deemed ineligible for stem cell transplant, and consider the current role of various evidence-based regimens in clinical practice.
  • Customize the use of maintenance therapy in the transplant and nontransplant settings, considering recently published research and patient- and disease-related factors, including cytogenetic profile and depth of response to induction therapy.
  • Implement a plan of care to recognize and manage side effects and toxicities associated with commonly used and emerging front-line regimens for MM.

This program is intended for medical and gynecologic oncologists, gynecologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of gynecologic cancers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand available clinical research findings with PARP inhibitors as maintenance therapy after first-line platinum-based chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer (OC), and appropriately counsel patients regarding personalized treatment recommendations.
  • Evaluate the biological rationale for and published data with PARP inhibitors in combination with other systemic therapies, and consider the current and potential clinical and research implications of these findings for OC management.
  • Appraise relevant biological, patient- and treatment-related factors to individualize the selection and sequencing of therapy for platinum-sensitive and platinum-resistant recurrent OC.
  • Appreciate available clinical research findings with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with chemotherapy as first-line treatment for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC), and optimally incorporate this novel strategy into the care of patients with microsatellite instability-high/mismatch repair (MMR)-deficient and microsatellite-stable/MMR-proficient disease.
  • Understand the available data with PARP inhibitors in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy for patients with advanced or metastatic EC.
  • Interrogate published efficacy and safety findings with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with other local or systemic therapies for cervical cancer, and effectively integrate immune checkpoint inhibition into patient care.
  • Evaluate published clinical research documenting the efficacy of HER2-targeted agents and regimens for patients with HER2-overexpressing gynecologic cancers, and consider the role of various approaches in disease management.
  • Describe the scientific justification for, published data with and ongoing research with novel agents and strategies for gynecologic cancers, and effectively prioritize clinical trial opportunities for eligible patients.
  • Evaluate the potential benefits of measuring circulating tumor DNA to assess for the absence or presence of molecular residual disease during and after treatment for various gynecologic cancers, and consider the current and future utility of this strategy in clinical practice.

  • Define endocrine resistance in patients with HR-positive metastatic breast cancer (mBC), and integrate available nonhormonal therapies into the care of these individuals.
  • Consider relevant biological, patient, psychosocial and treatment-related factors to personalize the selection and sequencing of therapy for individuals diagnosed with endocrine therapy resistant HR-positive mBC.
  • Appraise available clinical research results establishing the safety and efficacy of HER2-directed antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for patients with HR-positive, HER2-low and HER2-ultralow mBC, and formulate a plan to optimally incorporate this therapeutic strategy into the treatment algorithm for appropriately selected patients.
  • Interrogate published Phase III research findings documenting the efficacy of TROP2-directed ADCs for patients with HR-positive mBC to determine the current clinical applicability of these approaches.
