TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for hematologists, medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Individualize the selection of systemic therapy for patients with newly diagnosed CLL, considering new research findings, clinical presentation, biomarker profile, coexisting medical conditions and preferences for time-limited or continuous treatment.
  • Review the similarities and differences between covalent and noncovalent Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors, and assess the implications for the efficacy and tolerability of these agents.
  • Evaluate available and emerging Phase III data demonstrating the efficacy of covalent and noncovalent BTK inhibitors as first-line therapy for CLL, and use this information to counsel patients regarding front-line treatment options.
  • Understand published research findings with Bcl-2 inhibitors in combination with anti-CD20 antibodies as first-line treatment for CLL, and counsel patients regarding the risks and benefits of this novel treatment strategy.
  • Appreciate the scientific rationale for the investigation of combined BTK and Bcl-2 inhibition, and review recently presented data documenting the safety and efficacy of this strategy for patients with CLL.
  • Discuss available clinical research demonstrating the efficacy and safety of noncovalent BTK inhibitors for relapsed/refractory CLL, and use this information to identify patients appropriate for treatment with these agents.
  • Evaluate the biological rationale for the investigation of CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy for CLL, and identify patients for whom treatment with this novel therapeutic strategy would be appropriate.
  • Implement a plan of care to recognize and manage side effects and toxicities associated with available systemic therapies commonly employed in the treatment of CLL.
  • Recall available and emerging data with novel agents and combination strategies currently under investigation in CLL, and as applicable, refer eligible patients for clinical trial participation.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, breast surgeons, radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Appreciate the pathophysiology, incidence and severity of class-effect and agent-specific toxicities associated with FDA-approved antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in the care of patients with metastatic breast cancer (mBC).
  • Understand the frequency and severity of gastrointestinal side effects of ADCs, and educate patients about to commence treatment with these agents regarding the potential development of these adverse events, how to prevent them and what to do if they occur.
  • Implement a plan of care to monitor for, recognize and manage interstitial lung disease or pneumonitis in patients receiving treatment with ADCs.
  • Recall strategies to identify, manage and mitigate other toxicities associated with ADCs commonly used in the care of patients with mBC, such as fatigue, neutropenia, stomatitis and ocular toxicities, and use this information to appropriately intervene when side effects are suspected or diagnosed.
  • Appraise the role of multidisciplinary specialists in the diagnosis and management of toxicities associated with ADCs commonly used in the care of patients with mBC, and effectively collaborate to offer best-practice care.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical and radiation oncologists, urologists and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of urothelial bladder cancer and prostate cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate the published research supporting the FDA approvals of secondary hormonal agents for nonmetastatic prostate cancer, including for patients who experience biochemical recurrence after local therapy, and apply this information in the discussion of nonresearch treatment options.
  • Appreciate the biological rationale for targeting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in prostate cancer, and evaluate available data with novel AKT inhibitors in combination with hormonal therapy for patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and PTEN deficiency.
  • Assess the available research database with PARP inhibitors in combination with androgen receptor pathway inhibitors for patients with metastatic prostate cancer harboring a homologous recombination repair gene alteration, and discern how to optimally incorporate these agents into clinical management algorithms.
  • Review available Phase III data documenting the efficacy of various forms of radioligand therapy for patients with metastatic prostate cancer, and consider the current and potential clinical role of these strategies.
  • Understand the biological rationale for combining anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies with bacillus Calmette-Guerin for patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, and discuss available data with and the potential role of this novel approach.
  • Analyze the scientific justification for the use of perioperative immune checkpoint inhibitor-based therapy for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer, and evaluate available data documenting the efficacy and safety of this therapeutic strategy.
  • Reflect on pivotal clinical trial findings with novel compounds with unique mechanisms of action, such as antibody-drug conjugates, for metastatic urothelial bladder cancer (UBC), and identify patients for whom treatment with these approaches would be appropriate.
  • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating other novel agents and strategies for prostate cancer and UBC, and appropriately counsel patients about availability and participation.

This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of cancer.

  • Appraise the clinical relevance of recent pivotal cancer research published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at major oncology conferences.
  • Recall ongoing clinical trials in select hematologic cancers and solid tumors, and as appropriate, refer patients for participation.

  • Appraise the clinical relevance of recent pivotal cancer research published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at major oncology conferences.
  • Recall ongoing clinical trials in select hematologic cancers and solid tumors, and as appropriate, refer patients for participation.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate various clinical, biological and patient-related factors, such as age, site or bulk of disease, performance status, comorbid conditions and receipt of prior therapy, and use this information to personalize treatment recommendations for newly diagnosed extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC).
  • Review long-term data supporting the use of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy as first-line therapy for patients with ES-SCLC, and consider how these regimens can be appropriately and safely integrated into clinical practice.
  • Appreciate the biological rationale for the evaluation of maintenance treatment after chemoimmunotherapy induction, and recognize available research establishing the benefit of this approach.
  • Recognize adverse events associated with available first-line and maintenance therapies for ES-SCLC, and develop strategies to manage and mitigate these complications.
  • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel first-line and maintenance strategies for ES-SCLC, and as appropriate, counsel patients about availability and participation.
