TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Analyze the biological basis for the investigation of immune checkpoint inhibitors for patients with localized non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and evaluate available data documenting the efficacy and safety of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies as neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant therapy.
  • Appraise available findings from clinical studies and real-world analyses documenting long-term outcomes with anti-PD-L1 antibody consolidation therapy for patients with unresectable Stage III NSCLC who have not experienced disease progression after standard platinum-based chemotherapy concurrent with radiation therapy, and optimally integrate this treatment approach into patient care.
  • Recall available clinical trial findings with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors for nonmetastatic EGFR-mutated NSCLC, and identify patients for whom treatment with this novel approach would be warranted.
  • Evaluate published clinical research data with ALK-directed therapy as adjuvant treatment for localized ALK-positive NSCLC, and apply this information in the care of appropriately selected patients.
  • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel investigational strategies for localized and locally advanced NSCLC, and appropriately counsel patients about availability and participation.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to

  • Review available research documenting the correlation between the presence of various biomarkers (eg, PIK3CA/AKT1/PTEN alterations, ESR1 mutations) and response to specific therapies, and develop optimal testing algorithms for patients with hormone receptor (HR)-positive metastatic breast cancer (mBC).
  • Recognize the frequency of PIK3CA/AKT1/PTEN alterations in patients with HR-positive mBC, and employ evidence-based approaches designed to target these aberrations as appropriate for those with newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory disease.
  • Understand the biological rationale for the development of agents targeting multiple components of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, and recognize available data with this strategy for patients with HR-positive, PIK3CA wild-type and PIK3CA-mutant mBC.
  • Evaluate available research findings with and ongoing studies evaluating novel PI3K/AKT/mTOR inhibitor-based approaches, and consider the potential role of these strategies in clinical practice.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows, radiation oncologists, surgeons and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of breast cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate published research findings, clinical factors (eg, PD-L1, HER2 and BRCA status) and individual preferences in the selection and sequencing of available therapeutic agents and strategies for patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC).
  • Review published research data supporting the use of TROP2-targeted antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapy in combination with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies for patients with newly diagnosed mTNBC, and use this information to make appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Assess recently presented clinical research findings with TROP2-directed ADC monotherapy as first-line treatment for mTNBC, and optimally incorporate these agents into the care of patients with this disease.
  • Understand the biological rationale for the evaluation of HER2-directed ADCs for patients with HER2-low mTNBC, and identify patients for whom treatment with this approach would be appropriate.
  • Recognize the spectrum, frequency and severity of treatment-emergent adverse events associated with agents and approaches commonly used for mTNBC, and develop strategies to monitor for, prevent and manage these complications.
  • Assess the mechanisms of action of, early data with and ongoing clinical trials evaluating other novel agents and treatment strategies under development for mTNBC.
